The book is a creative retelling of this miracle. It is nice to have a Biblically based book to let my children read. I liked the "refrain" that is repeated throughout the book "he walked and walked - and sometimes ran- because he wanted to see Jesus". Obviously we don't know exactly how he got to Cana or what he was thinking, but this is an accurate idea of what I'd be doing! My kids really liked this story. One of them said it was "Amazing" and another said she liked the illustrations. The illustrations are bright and cartoon-y. I like how the text isn't all the same but is scattered across the pages to best fit with the illustrations and story.I would recommend this book to all with children in their lives.I received a complimentary copy of "The One O'Clock Miracle" in exchange for reviewing and participating in a blog hop about it. As a parent, disciple-maker, children's ministry director and lover of great children's literature, I am so excited that books like this exist. While the clever writing and beautiful illustration would hold their own among today's secular books in this genre, it is a 'true to the text' bible story that is gospel centered and sets you up for great conversations. I purchased it to present this Bible story to pre-schoolers at church, but my own 9 and 6 year olds liked it so much that I will be getting another copy for home. All ages of kids (3-9) and myself have been completely engaged and LOVED this book!
Well written story and interesting pictures, but I am so done with illustrating a White Jesus.

I have been looking for non cheesy Christian children's books that have a good message along with cute illustrations. This book meets all those requirements. Fantastic book!!!!

I am so excited to own this book. I read it to my kids tonight for the first time, and both the 3yo and 9yo paid attention. My 3yo was so excited to learn more about Jesus! The book is beautifully illustrated and makes Bible truths exciting for children. I am going to buy every book in this series.
It goes overboard with dragging out this Bible story unnecessarily. It is puzzling why the father is struggling to carry a bundle bigger than himself, when he is in such a hurry to find Jesus to come and heal his son.
I have been a parent of children for almost seven years, throughout this time I have search high and low for high quality children's books that teach a true gospel geared towards children instead of the constant moralism so common in Christian circles. Now granted from time to time my kids will watch or read something and I take that opportunity to explain to them why that is not why Jesus came to earth. But rarely have I found a book that I would feel comfortable with my young children (those that can read) reading on their own without me there to explain the problems with it. I can count on my hand the books that have done this, books like the The Jesus Storybook Bible. The One O'Clock Miracle is a fine book that tells the story of the royal official's son being healed from John 4. This book teaches clearly that Jesus is God's son, and that He is the way to life. Which is awesome! It also skips the traditional "be good" message of so many children's books and instead offers up the one who is good! The art work is playful and it is an enjoyable and quick read (Which can be really nice when it is late and you have to read to kids who should already be in bed).Recommended!
